SunTrust said Thursday that Margaret Callihan has been named president and chief executive of SunTrust Bank, South Florida. She succeeds James W. Rasmussen, who plans to retire on March 31, after a 36-year career with the company.
Callihan, who has served as Sarasota-based president and chief executive of SunTrust Bank, Southwest Florida since 2005, will relocate to South Florida, the bank said.
Since joining SunTrust in its management training program in 1978, Callihan has held increasingly responsible positions including Group Retail Line of Business Manager for SunTrust in Tennessee and Alabama, and president and chief executive of SunTrust Bank, Chattanooga, SunTrust said.
SunTrust Banks, headquartered in Atlanta, has $173.2 billion in assets.
